Blog Assignment 4

"Charlie longed to take off and get some breathing room for a few minutes to escape the pressure-cooker vibe. And she knew that once Allie was in the air, she’d feel better too.
“Okay, Okay, fine. I’m not wussing out,” Allie sighed.
“Let’s fly.”" (Lisi Harrison, Movers & Fakers, Page 4)

A event that takes place in the beginning of this novel is when Charlie is too scared to take flight in a plane that is abnormally small. I can relate to this because I remember when I was about 6,  I was offered a ride in my uncles small propeller plane but I balled my eyes out the whole time having a small case of claustrophobia. While reading this section of the novel I visualized this event that took place in my personal life to this event in the book. Also this event relates to other events that take place in the book. The connections I made are text-to-self and text-to-text while reading Movers & Fakers.

Blog Assingment 3

"Before I came here I was worried about going into ninth grade."(Susan Juby, Getting the Girl, page 4). Sherman Mack is the type of person who never stops worrying. He is always worried about his looks, his personality, his friends, his grades, and anything else he could be worried about. In this section of the book he was worried about himself starting high school and making new friends. Also he was worried about Dini, a grade 10 student, who is on the break of getting defiled (mentioned on page 12). I think that Sherman will really start to know his true self  better as the book progresses so he won't always be worrying about himself  as much anymore.

-PS I have about 10 pages of this book left and JUST started my second book and have only read 2 pages of it so I didn't know the personality of that character yet. Sorry about doing 2 blog posts on the same book (hope that's OK).

I chose this video because
Sherman Mack needs to learn to just be happy and not worry so much.

Blog Assingment 2

I am currently reading "Getting the Girl" by Susan Juby. In this novel it follows the life of an average kid Sherman Mack attending Harewood Tech in grade 9. There are the average jocks, scholars and everyone else in between but also there are the Defiled. Only girls get defiled and it's usually because they have been messing around with guys too much or have done something totally not right, therefore they are totally ignored. Sherman has the 'hots' for Dini (a grade 10 student) but is worried she will shortly get "D-listed" so he does all that he can to find out who the defiler is and tries to stop them.

"Getting the Girl" by Susan Juby has taken me on the ride of high school's ups and downs and I am loving every minute of it! Her grammar choice and sentence structure has mad me feel like I am actually in the mind of Sherman Mack with the details she uses. The drama she wrote about Sherman is mind blowing and I cam sometimes relate to his issues. I think that making the reader feel like he/she is involved in the story is the best way to keep them interested. I would defiantly recommend this novel to anyone ,girls or boys,  because of its details and plot.
