"Before I came here I was worried about going into ninth grade."(Susan Juby, Getting the Girl, page 4). Sherman Mack is the type of person who never stops worrying. He is always worried about his looks, his personality, his friends, his grades, and anything else he could be worried about. In this section of the book he was worried about himself starting high school and making new friends. Also he was worried about Dini, a grade 10 student, who is on the break of getting defiled (mentioned on page 12). I think that Sherman will really start to know his true self better as the book progresses so he won't always be worrying about himself as much anymore.
-PS I have about 10 pages of this book left and JUST started my second book and have only read 2 pages of it so I didn't know the personality of that character yet. Sorry about doing 2 blog posts on the same book (hope that's OK).
I chose this video because
Sherman Mack needs to learn to just be happy and not worry so much.
Good post, I feel like I already have a good idea of Sherman's character. I would have tried to talk about some other characteristic traits as well, but that was your choice.
ReplyDeleteI think the quote you chose for this post was the right choice because right in the quote it says he was worried about ninth grade. Later on you described how much he really worried about everything. Your prediction is a good one because normally in books like these everything starts to get better towards the end.
